The first stanza

 .The sun is descending in the west,
The evening star does shine;
The birds are silent in their nest,
And I must seek for mine.
Descending : going down
Seek              : look for
Figures:-
Metaphor    : -     And I must seek for mine
Alliteration: -      must – mine

The second stanza
The moon, like a flower
In heaven's high bower,
With silent delight,
Sits and smiles on the night.
heaven: - sky
delight: - happy
bower : - An arbour (like a garden)
Answer the following Questions:
From “Night”:
The moon, like a flower,
In heaven’s high bower,
With silent’s delight
Sits and smiles on the night.
1-      Pick out the figures of speech included in these lines.

*Simile:
·       Line one:the moon like the flower
     à The moon is compared to a flower.
*Personification:
·       Line four: “sits and smiles on the night”.
à The moon is personified as a person who sits and smiles.

·       Line four:sits, smiles
 à Repetition of sound s gives internal music.
           
*Rhyme Scheme:
ab ab cc dd

 2-      Give the meaning of:
·       Descending: going down.
·       Bower: a small shelter often in a garden.
·       Seek: look for

3-      What is the idea of the above lines?
 The poet begins by giving description of the coming night. The sun is still going down and the first star, of the evening, becomes visible in the evening sky. The birds which always sang during the day are quiet in their nests. The poet also knows that’s time to go home which is his “nest’’.
